My Story
I have been fascinated with the internet since I first discovered it, in 1986, in fact, the year my first child was born. That fact is quite relevant because from that moment on, choosing to be a stay-at-home mother I was a captive audience ! The choice to stay at home while my two children were growing was the right one for me because I just loved being totally involved in every aspect of their developing years, the parties, the sports days, the team games, I loved every nano second of it and wouldn't change it for the world. However, during these years, being at home so much, I was able to thoroughly explore the internet and much of what it has to offer. I started developing websites for clients many years ago and enjoyed tremendously the work I chose to do. However, as a family, we have travelled quite extensively which made it hard to work closely with clients and keep up with their required website changes, etc etc. We relocated to the UK from the Middle East in 2000 and I took a break from web designing while we established ourselves here and set down new roots. Both of my children are now at University and we are quite settled here in the UK so finally, after 7 years of very little web activity my thoughts are returning to my main passion of the internet and creating websites. As much as I love to design websites, the issue of being in constant touch with clients is not feasible for me as my husband and I plan to travel more and I don't want the tie of being ' attached' to clients' websites. I was searching for a long time for work I could do that would allow me to 'get my teeth into it' yet still allow me to me flexible with travel etc. There are several subjects that I am really passionate about and I KNOW I have a lot to offer with information stored up in my head, BUT.... HOW do I share this effectively ?? and most importantly.. HOW do I make a sustainable, long term income that would run and run and continue to build while I am off on my travels etc. ?? HOW do I make money from doing something I'm passionate about ( building websites) ?? HOW do I share information on subjects that I'm knowledgeable about and could write and write about until the cows come home ?? Yes, I DO know how to build a website and I DO know HTML and much of what goes on technically, HOWEVER, with the speed at which technology has changed since I was building websites a few years ago, how do I get up to speed, learn about the latest search engines, site rankings, monetising methods, affiliate programmes and STILL have time to write about my topics ??? On my own, I can't do it, time wise, that would be too steep a hill to climb. So, I searched and searched and browsed the net until one day I came across a company called Site Build It . As I read, a little light bulb slowly switched on and as I read and read more and more, that light bulb started to glow brighter and brighter as I realised I had stumbled upon EXACTLY the key to bringing everything together for me. Site Build It would take care of ALL the technology leaving me free to create and develop any themes I felt passionate enough to write about. Suddenly, I felt that everything I wanted to do was MORE than possible. Within Site Build It one of their most important and valuable commodities are their user forums. The knowledge, expertise, enthusiasm that is shared amongst owners of Site Build It is PHENOMENAL. If I have a question, some issue I am stuck on, be it ideas, technical, morale boosting, I leave a message on the relevant forum and there will ALWAYS be an answer from someone willing to help and very often within a few minutes. The Site Build It forums are a HUGE community of SBI owners who have seen how the structure works for them and are more than happy to Pay it Forward or Pay it Back and help those who need advice or help. AM I excited about this? Yes I am !! WHY? Because I have now seen for myself how SBI has worked for me and will continue to be a part of my expanding and rapidly growing presence on the internet. Yes, I AM technically savvy and can build my own websites from scratch , so you might wonder WHY I choose to work with SBI ?? The answer is that SBI owners can have it both ways, their structure is SO customisable. I use a HTML editor (Dreamweaver) to create my content because I am familiar with the software and have many years of learning and tutorials tied up to it but you DON'T HAVE TO KNOW A JOT OF HTML to succeed with Site Build It !! All you need is the passion and desire to share your knowledge and SBI will do the rest. Is it easy? NO, it's not. Is it Get Rich Quick? NO, it's not. Am I in it for the short term? NO, I'm not. Now that I have discovered Site Build It, this is just the beginning of a new career process for me. The websites I build will continue to bring in income for as long as they are on the web. Once they are set up and developed, I can travel as much as I like, just keeping tabs on things from a laptop as I move around. When my husband retires , he will also build a long term income from his SBI site, he has 40 years of high level financial and banking experience to call upon and what better method to share his expertise than through Site Build It. My two university students are also showing an interest in starting their own websites after they have seen how my Exploring Hypnotherapy site is coming along so successfully. Am I a bit long winded with my praise for Site Build It? I am already earning money from the google adsense ads that are scattered throughout the site and I'm already earning commissions from the companies I have set up affiliate links with. |
